| IB Launches Abuse Prevention Training for Churches and Camps |
|
The Insurance Board (IB) is pleased to announce the launch of its new free on-line sexual abuse prevention training program in cooperation with Praesidium, the national leader in abuse risk management. The Program is available now for IB participants. “We are extremely excited to be able to offer this program to our participants,” says Cathy Green, United Church of Christ Insurance Board President & CEO. “Not only does it teach how to keep children safe, but it also teaches churches how to protect themselves from false allegations of abuse.” ARMATUS® uses extensive interactivity, video-clips, compelling graphics, and sound effects to fully engage participants. Each module takes 30-45 minutes to complete and ends with a brief quiz over key elements. Churches have the ability to check on the progress of each “student” to ensure the modules have been completed. The on-line modules can be taken at anytime during the day. Churches are encouraged to use these modules for church staff and volunteers involved with children and youth. The introduction of the ARMATUS® training program is just one more addition to the already robust loss prevention resources and tools the IB offers its participants. In 2008, the IB introduced to its participants an electrical inspection program and a property valuation program, as well as a loss prevention calendar. The IB also launched its new website with significantly enhanced loss prevention resources for all churches. Information on programs for IB participants can be found at www.InsuranceBoard.org. Information on the sexual abuse training program can be found under “Safe Church Workbench.” |
